Jay Russ, the founder and President of the firm, has been engaged in the full time practice of law since 1975. The firm specializes in all aspects of healthcare law, litigation, commercial transactions, contract and corporate compliance. Jay Russ is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE). The firm represents physicians, medical practices and other care providers in their internal, corporate, employment, labor, hospital and health system relations, regulatory and other legal matters. Jay Russ brings to that representation a broad spectrum of experience from the health insurer and health insurance agent/broker perspectives.
Jay Russ is a sitting member of the Board of Directors of EmblemHealth, www.emblemhealth.com, a prominent health insurer in New York, Connecticut and Florida, serving as well on the Group Health Incorporated Board of Directors and on various committees of each board. Jay Russ is the Chairman of the Corporate Governance committee of EmblemHealth and serves on the compensation committee and the combined audit committees. He is General Counsel to Conference Associates, Inc., www.caiinsurancesolutions.com, a New York State licensed health insurance agent/broker, and General Counsel to the New York State Business Group, Inc, www.nysbg.com, an association of businessmen and businesswomen in New York State. For twelve years ending in 2005, Jay Russ was General Counsel to North American Partners in Anesthesia, LLP., www.napaanesthesia.com, the largest private practice anesthesia and pain management practice in the country. He serves as an Arbitrator with the American Health Lawyers Association, www.healthlawyers.org.
In the 1970s, Jay Russ was appointed to the panel of independent trial lawyers for the New York State Insurance Department, defending individuals and businesses when their insurers were undergoing rehabilitation by the State. In that role, Jay Russ tried hundreds of jury cases in New York. During the past 35 years, he has tried jury and non-jury cases, arbitrations, and has conducted hearings and argued appeals involving healthcare, private and municipal construction, complex personal injury and malpractice, worker's rights, contract, commercial transactions, debtor/creditor rights, employment, labor and other matters.
He is General Counsel to Nab Construction Corp, www.nabconstruction.com and represents contractors and bonding companies on their contractual and construction claims. These have included claims arising from high-profile construction projects such as the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge renovation and the Newark International Airport.
Jay Russ serves on the Board of Directors of The New Group, www.thenewgroup.com, an artist-driven not for profit company with a commitment to developing and producing powerful and contemporary theater. The New Group first developed and produced "Avenue Q." He serves as General Counsel to Confer Bethpage, LLC and Confer Rockland, LLC, which have concession agreements with New York State to own and operate, respectively, the golf and tennis concessions at Bethpage State Park and the golf concession at Rockland Lake State Park. Bethpage State park is considered to be the finest public golf course in the country, and hosted the 2002 and 2009 golf U.S.Open. |
